Privacy Policy for Pop & Go

This Privacy Policy explains how Pop & Go (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “App”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Pop & Go mobile application and related services. Pop & Go is a mobile app that helps you find movies, cinemas, and showtimes in Greece.

By using Pop & Go, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.


1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

The entity responsible for your personal data (“data controller” under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, “GDPR”) is:

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the App. The categories below describe what we collect and why.

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account or sign in, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile picture / avatar (if provided)
  • A unique account identifier and authentication token used to keep you signed in

Authentication is handled through WorkOS AuthKit and, on iOS, Sign in with Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with your name and a (real or private relay) email address according to your Apple privacy choices.

2.2 Location Information

With your permission, the App locally accesses your device location while you are using it in order to:

  • Find the nearest cinemas to you
  • Show your position on the in-app map

Your location is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to, collected by, or stored on our servers or any third party. It is used only locally, for example, to measure the distance to nearby cinemas and to position the map marker — and is discarded when no longer needed.

Location access is optional. You can use the App without granting location permission, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings. We do not track your location in the background.

2.3 Content You Create

When you use social and personalization features, we store:

  • Movie reviews and star ratings you write
  • Comments you post on reviews
  • Likes you give to reviews
  • Favourite cinemas and favourite movies you save
  • Reports you submit about other users, reviews, or comments
  • Blocks you set against other users

Reviews, ratings, comments, and your associated display name and avatar are visible to other users of the App.

2.4 Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we might send you notifications to deliver relevant alerts (for example, updates related to the App or your activity). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

2.5 Photo Library Access

If you choose to save or share a review image, the App requests access to your device’s photo library to save the generated image. We only access the photo library when you take such an action.

2.6 Usage and Diagnostic Data

To understand how the App is used and to improve performance and stability, we collect limited, anonymized, analytics and diagnostic information, which may include:

  • App usage metrics
  • Performance metrics (e.g. app launch time, responsiveness)
  • Crash and error diagnostics
  • General device information (operating system version, and app version)

This data is collected through third-party services (see Section 4) and is used in aggregate to improve the App. We have configured our analytics to minimize the volume of behavioral events collected.

2.7 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not knowingly collect payment card details, precise contact lists, or special categories of sensitive personal data (such as health, biometric, or political data).


3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide core App functionality (finding movies, cinemas, and showtimes)
  • Create and manage your account and keep you signed in
  • Show nearby cinemas and your location on the map
  • Display, store, and rank your reviews, ratings, comments, likes, and favourites
  • Send push notifications you have opted into
  • Enable safety features such as reporting and blocking, and to moderate content
  • Analyze usage to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

If you are in the European Economic Area (including Greece), we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the App and the features you request (e.g. account, reviews, favourites).
  • Consent — for optional features such as location access, push notifications, and photo library access. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the App secure, prevent abuse, and improve our services, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with the law.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may disclose your information:

  • With other users, for content you choose to make public (reviews, ratings, comments, display name, and avatar).
  • For legal reasons, if required by law or to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
  • In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.

We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to third parties.


7. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with applicable law.


8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the App and for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • Account data is retained while your account is active.
  • Content you create (reviews, comments, likes, favourites) is retained until you delete it or your account.
  • Analytics and diagnostic data is retained in aggregated or limited form for as long as needed to improve the App.

When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.


9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent.

You can also manage many settings directly:

  • Disable location, notifications, or photo library access in your device settings.
  • Delete your reviews, comments, and favourites within the App.
  • Delete your account from within the App.

10. Account and Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time, either from within the App or by emailing hi@popandgo.gr. Upon deletion, your personal information and user-generated content will be removed or anonymized, subject to the retention exceptions described in Section 8.


11. Children’s Privacy

Pop & Go is not directed to children under the age of 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.


12. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
